Connoisseur Wine
Fine Red Wine

2014 Syrah, Arnot-Roberts, Sonama Coast, California, USA £90
Arnot-Roberts is a small Californian wine producer, specializing in small-lot single-vineyard wines. The main focus is on Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This wine style from 2014 is rich and intense with perfect pairing for hearty dishes such as a classic Cassoulet (hearty stew of confit duck and pork sausage or rosemary lamb with a rich red wine jus. Dark cherries and olive brine on the nose, with a hint of spice on the palate and a long lasting finish.

2000 Château La Fleur, Petrus, Pomerol, Bordeaux, France £425
Château La Fleur-Pétrus is a wine estate in the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux and is widely regarded as one of the greatest in the region. The wine is Merlot-dominant, and is known for its finesse, elegance and age worthiness. A delicious nose of black olives, brown sugar, and sliced plums. Full bodied but shy, with a dense palate and soft and silky tannins. Flavors of milk chocolate, plums, and light vanilla bean come through. Interesting balance of viscous, long legs. Full of history and art, feel the trees and earth. A perfect pairing with venison or lamb.

1995 Château Mouton Rothschild, Paulliac, Bordeaux, France £600
Clear, bright garnet colour. Light perfume, black fruits, anise and tart red fruits followed by layers of blueberry, wet leather, earth and rhubarb. Big and expressive palate with a long finish. Layers of flavour and complexity that eventually turn more jammy at the end. The nose takes on a tobacco and black cherry notes. The body opens up to be consisting of black cherry, cedar, tobacco but is excellent freshness, thanks to the Cabernet Franc. A sublime pairing with lamb, duck or vension. We would highly recommend this wine to be decanted for at least 1 hour prior to drinking.

1999 Château Margaux, Premier Grand Cru Classes, Bordeaux, France £850
This has a dark, vibrant crimson colour with a nose dominated by coffee bean espresso and a huge, dark toastiness. There is masses of cassis and bright, polished, very attractive fruit tinged with violet and blueberry. Lovely fruit sweetness on the palate, wrapped for now in marzipan, but that core of really pure, ripe cherry and blackcurrant runs through the mid-palate. A wonderful match with any rich French dishes including boeuf bourguignon, cassoulet and confit de canard to name a few.
